JAKARTA - Penghargaan Producers Guild of America 2023 sedang berlangsung di Beverly Hilton di Los Angeles.

Pemimpin yang kuat untuk hadiah utama Oscar, tujuh nominasi film terbaik tahun ini diakui oleh Guild dalam kategori film: "Avatar: The Way of Water", "The Banshees of Iniherin", "Elvis", " Everything Everywhere All at Once," "The Fabelmans," "Tár" dan "Top Gun: Maverick."

Ini menandai tahun pertama PGA menominasikan empat sekuel, yang juga termasuk "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" dan "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery".

Aktor-produser Tom Cruise dianugerahi David O. Selznick Achievement Award, yang mengakui produser atau tim produksi atas karya luar biasa mereka dalam film.

Penghargaan Selznick memiliki sejarah yang luar biasa dengan penerima sebelumnya termasuk produser legendaris seperti Steven Spielberg, Barbara Broccoli, Mary Parent, Brian Grazer, David Heyman dan Kevin Feige.

Sejak 2009, hanya tiga film yang menang di PGA dan belum memenangkan Academy Award untuk film terbaik - "The Big Short" (2015), "La La Land" (2016) dan "1917" (2019).

Bahkan film yang sangat memecah belah seperti "Green Book" (2018) dan "CODA" (2021) yang mengejutkan di menit-menit terakhir tahun lalu membuktikan kekuatan mereka dengan grup tersebut sebelum mendapatkan patung Oscar.

Pemungutan suara Oscar terakhir dibuka pada 2 Maret 2023.
